Research Institute for Quality of Life (Romanian Academy): (ICCV)

The Institution

The Research Institute for Quality of Life, (Romanian Academy) is a leading institute of social research in Romania specializing in data generation and analysis on the following topics: quality of life, social policy, political sociology, social development, European integration, European values, and media analysis.

The institute employs 57 full time researchers among whomthere are 12 Ph.D. holders while 24 are Ph.D. students. Most of the staff received university training in sociology, but we also have people who hold B.A./M.A. or Ph.D. degrees in the field of Economics, Psychology, IT, and Mathematics. Many researchers also teach within the higher education system, most of them at the University of Bucharest, but also the National School of Political Science and Public Administration, the University “Lucian Blaga” of Sibiu, the “Nicolae Titulescu” University of Bucharest, as well as Eastern University, Pennsylvania.

Also, the institute has material resources that permit us to develop high quality social research: computers, a data archive containing rich social data generated during the past 15 years.

The institute will deploy for the present project human and material resources that ensure its successful implementation in Romania. Two researchers will work within the project in order to attain the objectives set for Romania and will use the material resources within the institute: data bases, computers, etc.
