Travel information - getting to Cambridge

Here are some links to assist you in preparing your travel arrangements to the conference.

Travel by air

Stansted airport
Stansted is the most convenient airport to fly to. It is only 30 miles from Cambridge with a regular train and coach service.

Train travel to Cambridge takes between 30 minutes and 1 hour depending on your connection.

The coach service runs every 1½ hours and takes approx. 1 hour.

Heathrow airport
Trains run from the airport to Cambridge every 30 minutes. The journey takes 2 hours.

A regular coach service runs hourly from the airport to Cambridge. The journey takes approx. 2 ½ hours.

Gatwick airport
Trains run from the airport to Cambridge every 30 minutes. The journey takes 2 hours.

A coach service runs every 2 to 3 hours from Gatwick to Cambridge, however the journey takes approx. 4 hours and involves a 60 minute wait at Heathrow airport.

Conference Dinner

The conference dinner is going to be held in the Old Library of Emmanuel College, St. Andrew’s Street on Thurs 28th September.

People attending the conference are welcome to purchase an additional dinner ticket if they wish to bring a guest. If you do intend to bring a guest, please let us know in advance.

If you would prefer a vegetarian meal, please let us know.

Cost of conference dinner ticket: EUR 70

The college is beautifully set in picturesque surroundings. The history of the college goes back 500 years. It is well known for its ducks! There are two ponds situated in the grounds of the college providing homes to quite a number of mallards and also a few exotic species.

Emmanuel College is only a couple of minutes’ walk up the road from the conference location in Lensfield Road and is accessed via St. Andrew’s Street.
