Fostering Moral-Democratic Competence with Discussion Theater / KMDD®

Registration deadline: April 30 | Special offers | Tourist Info | Program | Flyer Training & Certification

Testimonial:

Last revision: April 12, 2019

Democracy must be learned! Democracy cannot function if its citizens do not have a certain level of moral-democratic competence, that is, the ability to solve problems and conflicts on the basis of these principles through thinking and discussion, instead of through the use of violence and deceit, or through submitting to others.

dt_klogoI have developed a method to foster moral-democratic competence: The Konstanz Method of Dilemma-Discussion (KMDD)®, recently turned into a new form of theater: the Discussion Theater "Speaking & Listening" (DT). Both methods cost little time and money, but have shown to be very effective in many intervention studies (Lind 2002; 2016)

However, KMDD and DT are effective only if they are applied by well-trained and certified KMDD-Teachers. Moral dilemma discussions trigger emotions which need to be handled properly. Without training, both methods may be fun for the participants but do not increase their moral-democratic competence. In order to protect teachers' investment into their training the KMDD® is registered in many countries (e.g. EU, China, Switzerland, Turkey) as an international trade mark.

The full training & certification consists of this workshop plus a training-on-the-job. For more information on the KMDD/Discussion Theater see Lind (2016).

Participants should have some experience with teaching, mental training of theater. Student in the fields of psychology and education are also accepted.
