Field Biologist and Warden
The Nature Conservancy: NSG Oehe-Schleimünde, (Verein Jordsand) (1986 - 1988): Monitored the local bird community and investigated the beetle fauna of the reserve. Furthermore, I conducted tours through the reserve daily.

Institut für Vogelforschung, "Vogelwarte Helgoland" Inselstation Helgoland (1987): Assisted with capturing of resting birds.
Research Assistant
Max-Planck Research Centre for Ornithology, Andechs Radolfzell (1989): Assisted with capturing of resting birds.
Technician Supervisor
Max-Planck Research Centre for Ornithology, Andechs Radolfzell (1993): Supervised a field crew of volunteers capturing birds and instructed them in ringing and measuring birds.
Undergraduated Thesis Research
Max-Planck Research Centre for Ornithology, Andechs Radolfzell (1993): Designed and conducted a field study of the relationship of diet and habitat use of insectivorous birds in the stop over site 'Halbinsel Mettnau'.
Phd Thesis Research
Max-Planck Research Centre for Ornithology, Andechs Radolfzell (1996 - 2000): Designed and conducted several lab-experiments concerning the behaviour and the ecological requirements of F1-hybrids between common and black redstarts.
Postdoctoral Research
