Welcome to POLNET

For several years, there is beside to the introductory course POLNET also a course POLNET+ for advanced network analysis. Both courses are organized by the Chair Empirical Theory of the State by Prof. Dr. Volker Schneider.

They are suitable for PhD students, master students and researchers interested in dealing with the empirical study of social and political networks.

Winter School POLNET (2-3 December 2016)

The Winter course POLNET (in german) provides a basic introduction into the methods of social network analysis. Besides an overview on theories and data in network research, the most important network analytical methods are taught. A central component of the course is a practical introduction into the software programs UCINET and visone.

More informations you can find in the program schedule.

For the winter course the deadline for external applications is
15 November 2016!

Summer School POLNET+ (8-9 July 2016)

The summer course POLNET+ for advanced methods and their applications dealt this year with the collection of network data, which were made possible by digitization and particularly through the Internet. The course offered on the one hand a repetition of basic methods of social network analysis and an introduction to the network analysis with R, on the other hand an overview on various data collection methods such as online surveys, content analysis and the "data-mining" of network data in Wikipedia and Twitter. The teaching language was English.

More informations you can find in the program schedule.
